Our Kenya adventure kicked off to an incredible start. On day one we traveled to the Nairobi suburb of Karen to visit the Giraffe Center for endangered Rothschild Giraffes. You can climb up to a treehouse and stand eye to eye with these gentle giants! Terry took a food pellet and put it between his lips and the giraffe kissed him with her 22 inch tongue!

Following the Giraffe Center we headed to the non-profit David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for orphaned baby elephants. This was one of the most heartwarming - and heartbreaking - events of our lives, to see so many baby elephants whose entire families were slaughtered due to illegal poaching. These precious ones are lovingly cared for at the Sheldrick Center and visitors are invited attend their 12:00 lunch feeding. The center is the only place in the world where they have been able to successfully create a milk formula that gives them the nutrients they would have received from their mothers.
